Welcome!

We are a recreational group dedicated to enjoying and teaching traditional folk dance. We dance and teach couple dances and lively mixers from all five Nordic countries. Each Monday typically brings out 30 or more dancers of all abilities. We dance at Nordia House, 8800 SW Oleson Rd, Portland. Click here for map.​​​

Updated Covid Protocols 1/31/2024

The Norske Runddansere Board has determined that as of 1/31/2024 for all NR events, we will no longer require proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test. As always, however, you are welcome to wear a mask.

A big thanks to those who play tunes for us every Monday! We’re looking for people who want to fill the vital role of DJ for our dance evenings.  Training will be provided if you’re new to this role.  Please email us at  [email protected] if you’re interested…and our heartfelt gratitude in advance!

​​Why? Our membership fees are just almost enough to meet our expenses. Our rent went up very significantly a couple of years ago, and we will still have a donation jar on the entry table. If your budget allows, would you please consider adding a little extra to your membership dues? If you can help, we thank you so very much!

We also have our own teaching DVDs for sale (set of two for $10) and our sturdy shoe bags for $10 each if you want to contribute that way! (click here)

Events Coming Up
12/9/2024

Hello again dance friends   Don't let the rainy fall weather keep you weighted down on your sofa. We’re going to have some fun at Nordia House on Monday and we'd like to have you join us.
   Last week was enlightening with the tackling of that terrific Norwegian pols from Roros,.   Several newer members were intent on learning the steps and moves needed to make this dance work for them. So, since the scheduled teacher is on the injured reserved list, the back-up team will be going off-schedule to spend more time on this dance. It’s worth the effort. 
  Let’s get together with our darn good musicians at 7 pm and we’ll put this together. Smooth, soft-soled shoes are encouraged while street shoes are discouraged. 
   See you there!

President's Message

SnoBall Registrations due by next week please! We must give final numbers to Menucha by Thanksgiving. Don’t forget to get in your registrations for what is shaping up to be another wonderful “Snoball in the Gorge” at the picturesque Menucha Retreat and Conference Center lodge. The charming venue is well-suited for Scandinavian holiday festivities. Go to norskerunddansere.org to register and pay by credit card. There are a variety of ways with a variety of prices to enjoy the festive event. Registration and payment by check, cash, or card can also be done at the check-in table Monday evenings.

Annual memberships are available. The fiscal year starts October 1st at a rate of $125. That's still only about $2.50 per dance if you attend them all, which is a great deal! In January our pro-rate schedule begins, and we also have other special discounts for those who need it, like students. It's never too late to join and start saving.
