We are a recreational group dedicated to enjoying and teaching traditional Scandinavian dance. We dance and teach couple dances and lively mixers from all five Nordic countries. Each Monday typically brings out 30 or more dancers of all abilities. We dance at Nordia House, 8800 SW Oleson Rd, Portland. Click here for map.
News: We started to dance in person again on March 14 2022, for folks with proof of vaccination and booster only at this time. Check out our covid protocols page for requirements to attend. We are very much looking forward to getting together again, to learn and remember dances! Folks are also welcome to come to visit, listen, and watch, and to dance when they feel comfortable.

A number of superb live dance workshops are back this summer, and they’re now open for registration. You’ll find them listed here. Then, as we prepare for the new teaching sessions you will be promptly informed.
Thank You Musicians and DJs!
A big thanks to those who play tunes for us every Monday! We’re looking for people who want to fill the vital role of DJ for our dance evenings. Training will be provided if you’re new to this role. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested…and our heartfelt gratitude in advance!
Why? Our membership fees are just almost enough to meet our expenses. Our rent went up very significantly a couple of years ago, and we will still have a donation jar on the entry table. If your budget allows, would you please consider adding a little extra to your membership dues? If you can help, we thank you so very much!
We also have our own teaching DVDs for sale (set of two for $10) and our sturdy shoe bags for $10 each if you want to contribute that way! (click here)
Everyone is Welcome!
Norske Runddansere does not discriminate. Anyone is welcome to join us- all you need is a willingness to give it a try.
What's Happening This Week 9.26.2022
Hello again dance friends,
This Monday’s lesson will be a gentle refresher on a dance that has been practiced for centuries throughout the world. Our focus, the waltz, was banned in the 1820’s because people danced close together; scandalous. Before that people danced around each other with little or no contact. We’ve come a long way since then.
The waltz can be as slow or as lively as the music of the moment indicates. More than once I have finished a Scandinavian waltz and found myself panting from the effort. (But that’s just me.) On Monday, Juanita will demonstrate for us the intricacies and feeling for this lovely dance.
Lesson begins at 7:15 pm this Monday followed by open dance at 8:15. Soft-soled shoes are recommended.
Vaccinations including booster and masks are still required to dance.
And remember, this month is a good time to become a member of Norske Runddansere, or to renew your membership. Dues are due! You can do that in person at the dance, or online here.
